The Galactic Vikings is a young player group, young but no longer inexperienced.
The road has been longer than the time it took us to get to where we are, and we’ve had plenty help. There are many who have cast light upon our path as we’ve made our way across this star strewn ocean of endless possibilities, without whom we’d surely been lost or given up.
As Deputy Wing Commander of the Galactic Vikings, and a recipient of much help, I’ve long felt that we should somehow reward those who have, and continue, to give us aid.
We’ve allowed ourselves to be inspired by those that surround us, The Hutton Truckers, The Welsh Dragon Wing and The Paladin Consortium. Some say that imitation is the best form of flattery, and you will soon see the similarities between our reward system and your own.
At the first ever Galactic Viking Thing we discussed swag and intercommunity. We wanted to reward people, friends, for the Player With Player experience.
We wanted swag to be digital and physical rewards that we award to those we feel deserve them, much like the Hutton Truckers Mugs or Dog Tags and Patches. We have now taken the first step towards this goal and are ready to release The Hall of Valor – a place where we reward each and every helpful commander with digital medals and ribbons. We’re looking into alternatives on making them physical. No news on this as of yet.
In our discussion of Intercommunity, we were pitching ideas around activities we could do together as a wing, as a community and as friends. We want to be able to arrange weekly, monthly or even annual activities, such as racing, convoys, bounty hunting, friendly combat/sparring, length-jumps in SRV’s and more. We’ve got the ideas, and we will start working on arranging games and activities when the time is right. Personally, I’m hoping we’ll be able to invite you to some friendly activities in Valhaling very soon.
Now, as for the ribbons and medals, The Hall of Valor will be opening tomorrow, and we’ve already decided on some additions among the ranks of our allies who deserve recognition.
In addition to the Hall of Valor, there will be a Wall of Honor, where we highlight player groups and commanders for their excellent deed. The exact function of this is yet unknown, meaning we do not know if this is restricted to recent events, or if it will be a sort of archive. We might even make an archive in addition.
The red lining is that we appreciate all of you, you excellent commanders you! We’ll be working on the reward system continuously and welcome any and all tips, tricks, critique and praise (of course).
It’s been a pleasure playing alongside you so far, and the Galactic Vikings sincerely hope we’ll get together and play again.
