During my search for RAXXLA – Comms Beacons

Yesterday I found myself re-tracing my steps back to the beginning.
Not my beginning, but the actual beginning. Well, the beginning of the Raxxla mystery at least.

It started with a story. A story about Alex Ryder.
A relatively unknown Commander nowadays, I am sure. For me, his has been a story that has been with me for a long time. It’s not a particularly happy story, as such. But it had something in it that was captivating.

Here follows a short re-telling of the key elements of the story:

In the vast and mysterious expanse of space, where starships glide like phantoms against the cosmic backdrop and traders whisper tales in dimly lit taverns, there exists a legend as old as the star lanes themselves – Raxxla. Whispered about in hushed tones, it is said to be a hidden planet, a gateway to untold riches and pathways to other universes. For many, it remains a spacefarer’s dream, an elusive mirage amongst the stars.

Enter Alex Ryder, scion of the Ryder trading dynasty. His story is not just one of commerce among the stars but of a personal odyssey shaped by tragedy and destiny. Born into a family whose name was synonymous with interstellar trading, Alex’s life was charted amongst the stars from the beginning. Yet, his journey took a dramatic turn with the death of his father, Jason Ryder – a death shrouded in mystery and betrayal, occurring in the cold, unforgiving void of space.

Jason’s demise was no ordinary event; it was tied to the enigma of Raxxla. In his final breaths, he whispered of this mythical planet, setting Alex on a path that would diverge sharply from his forebears. The quest for Raxxla became a beacon for Alex, drawing him inexorably towards the unknown.

Transformed by his father’s untimely death, Alex’s trajectory shifted from trade routes to the darker corners of the galaxy. Vengeance fueled his journey, propelling him into a life of peril and combat. The once-trader evolved, his skills in space warfare sharpening with each encounter, his name becoming whispered in the same breath as the deadly and the daring.

The legend of Raxxla dangled before him like a cosmic carrot, an answer to the riddle of his father’s end. Rumors spoke of The Dark Wheel, a clandestine group as elusive as the planet they sought. Alex’s path intertwined with this shadowy collective, drawn together by a shared obsession with the planet that promised so much yet remained tantalizingly out of reach.

In this cosmos of uncharted territories and lawless outposts, Alex Ryder’s tale unfolded – a saga of a trader turned warrior, seeking justice amidst the stars. His journey was a testament to the resilience of the human spirit, a chronicle of transformation forged in the crucible of space.

And so, in taverns where spacefarers gather, the story of Alex Ryder and Raxxla is told and retold – a space odyssey that captures the imagination, a reminder that amongst the infinite stars, anything is possible.

Interpretation by Ramforth

This mysterious ‘Raxxla’ has been on my mind for a long time. And it’s elusiveness beckons me, even now. Some say it’s made up and not at all worth seeking. Others claim it is.

In any case, I was re-tracing my steps. No. Not my steps. Alex Ryder’s steps.
I went to Lave, looking for clues. And I went to Tianisla and read about the graveyard there. These did not provide further clues, yet.
But I found something else. When I went back to Lave for a second time, I discovered this:

Unregistered Comms Beacon around Lave 2. Lave 2 is also a permit locked planet, but it says nothing about which permit is needed.

This is a curious thing indeed.
As you can hear, the transmission is a code. And I have tried to transcribe it here:

The first part of the message suggests that it is a coordinate system, since it starts with Y 06. At least that is my initial suspicion.

So, I embark on a search. To find the remaining pieces of this mystery. There has to be more to this than I know now.
